Folders
Prism keeps a list of map folders: your osu! Songs folder, an Etterna Songs folder, a Quaver folder or any folder of maps. Add them with the + button above the map list or in Settings → Library. The game walks through the subfolders, reads each chart and stores the result in a local database. Your files are never moved or changed. A progress bar and an estimate show during the first import.
Refresh finds added, changed and removed files and reuses the results for files that did not change.
Formats
| Game | Files |
|---|---|
| osu!mania | .osu |
| StepMania and Etterna | .sm, .ssc |
| Quaver | .qua |
The game plays 4K, 5K, 6K and 7K layouts, with taps and long notes (holds). Each difficulty of a .sm or .ssc file is its own entry.
- Charts whose layout the game does not have, and maps whose audio cannot be found, are listed as incompatible in the import report.
- Mines and rolls are removed when a chart is read; the report tells you how many per difficulty (for example "2 mines removed, 1 roll removed"). They never make the game refuse a difficulty.
- If a folder holds a
.sscfile, its.smfiles are ignored, as in StepMania.
Search and filters
The list is browsed by map sets. Search is focused when you open the screen. + Filter adds a criterion; each criterion can be edited or removed, and mods can add their own fields. Filtering runs in the game and is paged, so it stays fast on large libraries.
Difficulty ratings
Ratings come from the Metron calculators and are computed in the background, without blocking the list: you can set the number of workers, and the work is paused while you play. Choose which calculator is shown in the selection screen and in Settings.
Download maps from the game
The Download page (Esc menu) searches maps from other games and installs them in one of your map folders:
- osu!: through the osu! API if you saved your own application credentials, otherwise through public mirrors.
- Quaver: public search; downloading needs your Quaver token.
- Etterna: packs from EtternaOnline.
Mirrors and sites are third-party services: they can be slow, limit requests or be down, and the game shows it when they are. Read each service's terms before using it. The library picks downloaded maps up on its next rescan. In Settings → Library you can optionally optimise images and audio at install time (off by default); map files themselves are not touched.
